Community Progress Council is proud to be a trusted partner in York County in serving low- and moderate income families, and empowering them to self-sufficiency.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit in March 2020, Community Progress Council stepped in as the grantee for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program in York County. The Emergency Rental Assistance Program proved a lifeline for our community, providing critical resources to keep families housed despite lost wages, interruptions to work, and other COVID-19 impacts.

After nearly three years and thousands of families served, the Emergency Rental Assistance Program has come to an end.

A phased program closure, announced in August 2023, allowed team members to process completed applications and expend additional funds.

“The Emergency Rental Assistance Program was a colossal undertaking for our team, where nearly everyone in the agency played a role at some point,” said Robin Rohrbaugh, President/CEO, Community Progress Council. “We’re proud to have kept thousands of families housed in the face of this unprecedented and ongoing crisis, and to have connected many of those families to the broader services that CPC provides to support their long-term economic mobility.”

Community Progress Council remains committed to providing comprehensive, integrated services that can help York County families achieve longer-term economic self-sufficiency, and continues to offer housing and financial education and counseling services alongside our other services to help families achieve their housing and self-sufficiency goals.

For individuals seeking rental assistance, PA 211 is a free, confidential information and referral service available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Dial 2-1-1 or connect online at www.pa211.org to be connected with resources in your area.
