Community Progress Council is pleased to receive a THRIVE grant from the York County Community Foundation’s Fund for York County to expand coaching services to low- and moderate-income families in York County.
Personalized, long-term coaching relationships are key to Community Progress Council’s success in their mission: To empower people to move toward self-sufficiency.
Coaching is designed to holistically address the causes of poverty as well as the interrelated facets required for stability and self-sufficiency, each of which mirror the World Health Organization’s Social Determinants of Health. Coaches help program participants coordinate internal and external services while creating long term, trusting relationships that emphasize a strengths-based approach and autonomy in decision-making.
The $69,000 grant will ensure Community Progress Council can respond to increasing demand for coaching services, retain current coaching team members, and expand this successful program to empower more families toward economic self-sufficiency.
“Poverty is complex, and the path to self-sufficiency can present unforeseen challenges that prevent a person’s progress, or even set them back for a time,” said Robin Rohrbaugh, President/CEO, Community Progress Council. “That’s why a long-term investment in coaching relationships is so critical.”
“At time when we’re seeing a nearly 200-person waitlist for coaching, we’re fortunate that funders like the York County Community Foundation are willing to enthusiastically serve as partners in this work to help us meet this increased need,” Rohrbaugh added.
York County Community Foundation THRIVE grants focus on fueling community transformation by helping low-income individuals address barriers and build economic mobility to help them thrive. Focus areas include Career Development, Child and Youth Development, Health, Housing, and Transportation.
