January is Poverty Awareness Month, a chance to raise awareness on the impacts of poverty in our community and Community Progress Council’s work to empower families toward self-sufficiency.
In York County, 42,000 people live below the poverty line, while 34% — more than 1 in 3 people — struggle to achieve self-sufficiency and live independent of public or private supports.
By providing comprehensive, integrated services at Community Progress Council, we have the unique opportunity to interrupt generational poverty and work with families over time to break the cycle of crisis.
Elected officials at the municipal and county level recognized Community Progress Council in January to honor Poverty Awareness Month and CPC’s impact for low- and moderate-income families across York County.
