Welfare recipients who are receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or Food Stamps, are eligible to enroll in this program for up to 2 years. Participants must be enrolled in the Department of Public Welfare’s Maximizing Participation Project (MPP) in order to be eligible for SE.
If you are interested in help with overcoming your barriers to employment, please contact your caseworker at the York County Assistance Office to be considered for referral.
WHAT DOES THE SE PROGRAM OFFER?
Staff members, including case managers and a job coach, are available to help you to overcome barriers that may have prevented you from getting and keeping a job. We will
help you with transportation, housing, child care and other issues you may be facing so that you don’t have to do it alone. Each person has a different goal plan to work on, and we will give you supportive services and incentives to reward you as you make progress toward your goals. You may begin with a few hours of program activities and gradually increase your hours until you reach 30 hours.
WHAT KIND OF ACTIVITIES WILL BE AVAILABLE?
Depending on the goal plan, you may participate in any of the following activities:
- Literacy/mathematics classes for improving reading or math skills
- Adult Basic Education
- GED classes
- ESL classes
- Life skills to help manage daily living
- Job Finding activities- job readiness, job preparation, job search, and job retention
- Work activities- clients may become employed and continue to be enrolled in SE
